The Project


		In cooperation with the City Management as well as with the Community Of The Inner-City Merchants Gummersbach we again are going to present one of the largest and most original calendars of the Advents season worldwide.

“UNIQUE” - THE PORTALS OF GUMMERSBACH



		Many people . . . were highly fascinated, when they could admire one of the most extraordinary „calendars of the Advent season“ in Gummersbach´s pedestrian precinct in the last two years. Visitors were very much amazed about the extremely extravagant pre-Christmas performance of art, which already caused many topics of conversation in the local district town before it startet. 36 enterprises, 7 relief organizations, 2 schools, numerous musicians and theatre groups as well as a huge number of other people took part in the entire production in december 2011 . Thanks to the engagement of the municipality and the district administration who helped this pilot project being realized; and it made many a visitor (also prominent) offer us a cordial congratulation to this outstanding action.



	We are very pleased . . . of being able to install these 24 impressive door-portals along the already known 200m- distance again in 2012. The position will be parallel, slightly shifed and right-angled to the neighbouring buildings. There will be no sequence in chronological or calenderial order in the numbering. The objects, each of them being fixed on an anthracite-coloured block of concrete by a special anchoring, consist of a wooden gate, lacquered in red. In front of its white innerside wall a green door is installed. The height of the entire construction is 2,66 metres ( 8 ft, 8,75 in ), and the entire weight comes to 1040 kgs. The base of reinforced concrete has got integrated cable channels and is made to measure 2,0 x 0,8 mtrs. The power supply works by a seperate made, subterranean cable system. On both sides we installed halogen spotlights, which produce - especially in the darkness - charming light effects and a fantastic atmosphere.



		If you like . . . you can inform yourself every morning from Dec.1st until Dec. 24th, starting at 11 o´clock a.m. every day at the actual calendar gate about the „surprise of the day“, each of them promoted as a special action by our commercial partners, who, in the run-up of this projekt purchased the marketing rights for their own portal. They show this by a stylish, unobstru- sive firm logo, which is integrated in the graphic on the backside of each portal. By the discreet, yet striking and effektive commercial messages on the front you are invited to take part in the presentations, the activities of entertainment, and the activities of different charitygroups or organizations. They take place, each of them, beside the portal and/or in the enterprise of the „portal sponsor“ and ... a lot of joy and enchantment is guaranteed.



	A little bit „crazy“ . . . may this unique piece of artwork be: the „Gummersbach Calendar Of The Advent Season“ but it´s never ever conservative. The metaphor of the „Open Door“ shall express once again the hospitality, tolerance and open mindedness of the district town and its inhabitants.
